Under the authority of the Manager of Spiritual Care, provide direct ministry to patients, their family members and hospital staff.

Responsibilities
- 1. Respectful, compassionate and timely attention to spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families throughout the hospital while on-call, or unit coverage during regular work hours. Fully Meets Expectations: Timely response to all pager calls; completion of assigned spiritual care consults; follow-up visitation of patient visits referred by staff chaplains; positive feedback from patients, families and staff regarding spiritual care; ability to effectively manage multiple crisis calls at once. Exceeds Expectations: Examples of excellent customer service which exceeds expectations; chaplain initiated patient visits (rounding in ICUs, OR Waiting Rooms, etc.) - must be documented in chart and On-Call Log; recognition from Off-Shift Clinical Executive for exceptional spiritual care. Sets a New Standard: Introduction of innovative methods that are accepted and utilized across the department.
- 2. Reaching the On-Call Chaplain cumulative target as set forth by the department for all shifts worked depending upon the shift and level of acuity of patient needs.
- 3. Contribute to a positive work environment via ministry to staff. Fully Meets Expectations: Extending the provision of hospital-wide services begun by day chaplains, e.g., blessing of the hands, imposition of ashes, etc., as needed in the hospital. Exceeds Expectations: Provide organized/formal prayer services to groups of staff after difficult patient care situations and /or employee crisis/death; Sets a New Standard: With authorization, offers extended services that assist the department in enhancement of staff care as acknowledged by hospital leadership.
Qualifications
EDUCATION Four units of ACPE, Inc. accredited Clinical Pastoral Education preferred; at least one unit or specified other qualifications is required. EXPERIENCE At least one unit of ACPE, Inc. accredited Clinical Pastoral Education or extensive experience working in a hospital setting. SPECIAL SKILLS Demonstrated emotional and spiritual maturity sufficient to work in a crisis setting, and demonstrated skills in pastoral care in an institutional setting.
Additional Information
Four units of ACPE, Inc. accredited Clinical Pastoral Education preferred; at least one unit or specified other qualifications is required. Master's Divinity or related degree preferred.
