The Opportunity

The School of Performing Arts, Music Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor in applied euphonium & tuba. Duties will include instruction, recruitment, retention, and development of the euphonium/tuba studio, assisting in the administration of the brass area, and other teaching according to the qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the department. We are seeking a candidate who will work collaboratively with UCF faculty to build strong relationships with school music educators and private studio teachers, while relating to-and working well with-UCF's diverse student population. Anticipated start date is August 8, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or international equivalent) in music from an accredited institution.

  • Experience as an artist/performer on euphonium and/or tuba at a regional or national level that demonstrates a clear capacity for academic advancement commensurate with a tenure-earning position.

  • Ability to teach and perform in a variety of musical styles and genres.

  • Demonstrated success in teaching, recruitment, and retention of euphonium & tuba students at the college/university level.

  • Minimum of three (3) years prior teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed doctorate (or international equivalent) in music from an accredited institution.

  • Experience as an artist/performer on euphonium and/or tuba at an international level that demonstrates a clear capacity for academic advancement commensurate with a tenure-earning position.

  • Demonstrated experience and interest in collaborative performance.

Letters of reference should not be included at this time, however, may be requested at a later date.

The selected candidate will be required to submit official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of their qualifying academic credentials.
