JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Human Resources is seeking a dynamic Manager for Learning and Development to provide leadership and vision for our learning and development programs. This pivotal role will oversee programs that support employees across all of Penn State's campus locations and job types.

Responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Define and manage the vision, strategy, and goals for the university's training and onboarding programs

  • Lead a team of learning professionals with responsibility for all supervisory activities including task delegation and direction, hiring, training, and performance management

  • Lead the development and delivery of training and education programs throughout the university with a focus on leadership and management, professional skills, and diversity education topics

  • Integrate industry best practices in the design and delivery of programs including the use of technology, learning interactions, and transfer of learning strategies

  • Oversee and extend our program evaluation and measurement capabilities

  • Optimize the use of our enterprise technologies, including our Learning Management and HRIS systems, to create a positive learner experience and operational efficiency

  • Build partnerships with training and education experts across the university

  • Identify and partner with subject matter experts internal and external to Penn State for content development and delivery

  • Design, develop, and deliver training content as needed to support our programs

The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to operationalize their vision and strategy, moving between big picture planning and day to day operations, and collaborate with units throughout the university to achieve our learning objectives. In addition, they must possess:

  • Strong leadership and vision

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Expertise in training program management

  • Proven experience in leading and developing a team

  • Knowledge of industry best practices in learning and development

  • Proficiency in using Learning Management and HRIS systems

  • Ability to build and manage partnerships with training experts

  • Strong analytical skills for program evaluation and improvement

This position minimally requires a Master's Degree and 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$86,300.00 - $129,500.00
