Position: Student Intern, Psychiatry Research

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: Per Diem, Temporary, Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Student Intern will support clinical research activities in the Recovery from Stress and Trauma through Outpatient care, Research, and Education (RESTORE) Center at Boston Medical Center. The RESTORE Center seeks to address racial and socioeconomic disparities for PTSD through clinical, educational, and research initiatives. RESTORE provides high and low intensity treatment options for PTSD which have been tested in research studies at Boston Medical Center. Patients receiving treatment in the RESTORE center complete assessments every 3 months to determine treatment progress.

Students will gain exposure to a range of clinical research activities. The student will also support ongoing PRISMM lab studies and activities, and will collaborate with all lab study staff. This is a hybrid position. The co-op will mostly work remotely but may occasionally work on-site to assist with in-person research activities and program coordination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides a wide variety of administrative and general support duties in assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with staff on special projects, prepares related spreadsheets and other documents as required
  • Completes data collection, data analysis and other duties as necessary for successful completion of the department's projects and initiatives.
  • May assist the principal investigator with translation to Spanish or Haitian Creole, interpreting experimental results, and in preparing and writing manuscripts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Recent college graduate or student enrolled in a related graduate or undergraduate degree program, preferably beyond a second semester junior.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize duties
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have an interest in performing new and varied work assignments, and be flexible with regard to work assignments
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word is required. Knowledge or ability to learnMinitab.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities include:


  • Assist with administration and documentation of clinical assessments in the electronic medical record (Epic)
  • Monitor patient engagement in RESTORE (collect data using REDCap, send reminders about appointments and assessments to increase patient engagement)
  • Communicate with study therapists regularly to coordinate care and outreach
  • Meet with the study team (Principal Investigator, Research Coordinator, and clinic therapists) regularly to update on clinic progress
  • Organization and maintenance of regulatory materials
  • Preparation and facilitation of research and treatment consultation meetings
