Summary of Position

The Reference Testing Coordinator provides a support role to the lab ops team and pathology. This position is responsible for following all standards, policies and procedures of Inform Diagnostics. This position requires the operation of a data entry terminal in order to input, record, verify, and edit various patient and laboratory information. This position receives, sorts, and provides accurate data entry for all specimens received in the Reference Testing area. The Reference Testing Clerk will follow the direction of the supervisor while taking initiative in performing and promoting quality and efficiency within the department. The Reference Testing Coordinator will be trained in the expected tasks in order to meet the competency set by the department.

Key Job Elements



  • Properly identify, receives, sort, prepare and package lab specimens in the Reference Testing area.
  • Accurately enters vendor and material send out information into LIS.
  • Performs data entry, in order to input, record, verify, and edit various patient and laboratory information.
  • Pull and print Lab reports.


Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience




  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • No experience necessary, laboratory and data entry experience a plus.
  • Medical Transcription Certificate or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to decipher various forms of handwriting and enter alpha and numeric information into the laboratory information system with required speed and accuracy necessary.
  • Ability to pull and print report information from the laboratory information system.
  • Ability to work with Client Services to resolve patient and client issues.
  • Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Demonstrate skills and high level of attention to detail in technical data interpretation and
  • ability to troubleshoot.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use.
  • Ability to operate word processing equipment, transcription equipment, and other equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to read the clients request and enter them into LIS.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
