Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, supervises the operation of custodial services. Works independently with limited management direction and has direct responsibility coordinating the tasks of the custodial staff for their assigned areas of responsibility. Creates schedules, assigns and reviews work. Assures that the interior of the facility is clean, sanitary and safe and in compliance with infection control guidelines. Assures the grounds are clean and safe in compliance with safety guidelines. Hires, trains and evaluates custodial staff. Maintains facility and janitorial supply inventories.
Essential Functions:
- Manages and coordinates the activities of employees in the areas and shifts they are responsible for; determines work procedures and expedites workflow; assigns and reviews work for compliance and thoroughness. (15%)
- Prepares necessary and required reports. (15%)
- Sets unit goals and plan of action for achieving goals. (15%)
- Manages resources in a conservative, responsible, and cost-effective manner, oversees the inventory of supplies and equipment, and insures supply orders are placed in a timely manner. (15%)
- Edits custodial subordinate time cards, makes necessary adjustments/corrections and approvals. (15%)
- Perform as a working supervisor for staffing shortages and filling in for absences. (15%)
- Regularly inspect and evaluate physical condition of facility; recommend painting, repairs, and replacement furnishings. (10%)
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- Three years' experience in custodial service operations required. Required and
- One year in a lead or supervisory role required. Required
Licenses:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge about cleaning standards and cleaning agent use.
- Knowledge of the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of chemicals used to clean surface areas sufficient to be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Skill in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written or demonstrated instructions.
- Skill in evaluating employee performance, and enforcing disciplinary guidelines.
- Supervisory skill over subordinate employees to motivate and guide toward goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and establish priorities.
- Ability to work weekends/holidays and cover for 24/7 coverage.
Shift Work Type Regular
Salary $23.85 - $32.26 / hr
