The candidate in this role will be required to work with Nokia R&D members (CTO, other IMS products systems engineers/architects, product owners, software engineers) as well as product line managers (PLMs) and customer support teams to define, design and deliver SBC product capabilities for both telecom and enterprise markets.

**Due to NSA requirements this role will not be offering sponsorship. Candidates must be US Citizens or green card holders.

**Relocation will not be offered for this position.

What you will learn and contribute to

  • Develop and define architecture patterns for cloud applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance. Apply Cloud Native architecture design principles and integrate Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (business, product, and technical teams) to gather, analyze, and understand application requirements, then translate these into a coherent, robust architecture design.
  • Demonstrate expertise in security best practices and ensure that the architecture adheres to security standards. Implement measures to safeguard sensitive data and comply with relevant security protocols and regulations.
  • Analyze system performance, including capacity, scalability, and resource management. Identify areas for optimization and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce latency, and ensure high availability.
  • Effectively document architecture decisions, design patterns, and system structures. Share technology and product knowledge through publications, presentations, and cross-functional team interactions, both internally and externally.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to inform and guide architectural decisions. Provide mentorship and oversight to development teams throughout the implementation phase of architectural designs. Identify product gaps and collaborate with Product Lifecycle Managers (PLMs) to address and resolve these issues.
  • Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, operations, solution architects, and CTO teams. Ensure successful design, integration, and deployment of cloud applications by aligning efforts and providing technical guidance across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in computer science or telecom. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 3-4 years previous experience in software design, software development and/or testing in an R&D or similar organization.
  • 3-4 years of professional experience in system / solutions architecture in IMS domain.
  • Good knowledge of IMS, VoIP, VoLTE and SBC role / use-cases
  • Knowledge of generic OAM interfaces and network management
  • English as working language

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Good knowledge of Session Border Controller product(s) (control plane and media plane), their functions, components, interfaces
  • Knowledge of 3GPP and IETF standards applicable to SBC signaling & media services and networking
  • Experience and knowledge related to signaling plane: SIP, H.248, Diameter, Lawful Interception (X1/X2), security aspects and protocols
  • Experience and knowledge related to media plane: H.248, MSRP(S), (S)RTP, RTCP, (D)TLS, DTMF, transcoding (audio, fax, video) including TrFO, MOS
