General Information: This position will lead and manage HSSE programs and processes, as well as a team consisting of HSE Specialists, HSE Technicians, and an Occupational Health Nurse for the Hitachi Energy Bland, VA Facility. Your Responsibilities: In your role as an HSSE Manager at Hitachi Energy, you will be part of our success by:
- Acting as a coach and advisor toward the leadership team concerning HSSE management.
- Acting as a role model to support a HSE learning and improving culture.
- Assuring the organization's compliance with all applicable Hitachi Energy, local, and government HSSE regulations.
- Maintaining the Group and Business Unit HSSE management systems and carry out inspections and audits, analyze the results, and manage the corrective actions.
- Managing the incident reporting, investigation and analysis program.
- Analyzing and monitoring trends regarding incidents, inspections, audits and corrective measures and keep the management team informed.
- Assisting management in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfill their roles, according to local laws and Hitachi Energy standards and programs.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of various Group and Business Unit HSSE programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockout, inspections and scheduled audits, etc.)
- Organizing activities to promote employee awareness, increase their participation, and encourage the adoption of safe behaviors.
- Managing the ergonomics program, job analyses, and prioritize and implement corrective actions
- Receiving/collecting HSSE best practices and lead local implementation as appropriate
- Assisting Human Resources and care management representatives regarding return to work strategies
- Maintaining certifications for both ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Lead, guide, and coach the local HSE team to achieve optimal results
- Responsible for HSSE strategic planning to help move the organization towards achieving all KPI's as well as target and objectives
- Responsible for annual HSSE department budgeting and capital expenditure planning

Your Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental or Occupational Health Sciences
- Eight or more years of relevant HSSE experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations including air, wastewater, and hazardous waste
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs and culture change initiatives
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and plant specific software systems
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
Preferred:
- Professional certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH).
- Experience and/or familiarity with ISO45001 & ISO 14001
- High comfort level with digitized management tools.
- Experience with represented workforce
- Ability to operate within and support matrixed leadership and functional teams.
