We are excited to seek an Infrastructure operations professional with a strong focus on data center power & space planning and cloud infrastructure management to join us! In this role, you will perform critical cost analysis and plan for appropriate levels of data center resources. Collaborate with our technology and business stakeholders to drive continuous cost efficiencies, optimize resource consumption, reduce risk, and align spending with business objectives.

This role will also manage financial operations (finops) duties passionate about Salesforce's 1P Infrastructure, including build/decomm decision analyses, purchase reviews, and budget approvals. Closely work with Finance, Sourcing, and other partner teams to deliver ground-breaking outputs related to future year plans.

This is an individual contributor role, where you will influence partner teams to challenge the status quo! You have a background in large scale infrastructure/hardware planning and technical project management, drive planning and capacity initiatives, and you have an understanding of servers, networks, and data center operations. This is a highly multi-functional role where you will be encouraged to partner with data center stakeholders (capacity engineering, network engineering, construction, site selection, site & facility operations, network, finance).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead global data center strategy to ensure projected capacity demand is translated into an appropriate physical footprint plan
  • Develop new Data Center planning strategies that focus on driving improvements in reliability, and achieve cost and operational efficiency including reductions in deployment times, improvements in data center power utilization, and service placement optimizations.
  • Optimize network, hardware and DC infrastructure footprints to drive TCO savings
  • Orchestrate the development of power & space business cases, scenario development, and constraint analyses for Infra leadership and collaborate with multiple teams at Salesforce (Sourcing, TPMs, Finance, DCEng, DCArch, etc)
  • Engage business units on the data center infrastructure landscape and timeframes to support critical activities. Provide data and develop infrastructure business cases related to data center facilities and hardware that considers the balance between cost and risk
  • Apply quantitative techniques, develop decision scenarios and trade-offs to drive multi-billion dollar infrastructure decisions at the highest level in the organization
  • Provide infra-driven signals to Sourcing partners and work with them within a feedback loop to understand/incorporate cost and timing input from vendors
  • Support efforts to translate asset constraints into a capacity plan-of-record and utilize CECM tooling development whenever possible to show cost impact related to refreshed/extended HW and extended DCs
  • Help visualize 1P lifecycles, especially to represent the net hardware and facility ramp-down
  • Partner with TPM team to regularly review, update, and approve capacity plan-of-record
  • Work across teams to ensure Finance has acceptable incremental capex and opex data center inputs
  • Analyze data center and hardware write-off based on the useful lives of facilities and assets
  • Perform analyses of vendor commitments, spend, etc. to support supplier management and negotiations
  • Support divestiture/sublet discussions related to data center offload
  • Partner with Data Center engineering, Finops, service owners, Tech, Sourcing, TPM and Finance teams

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of proven related experience working in Infrastructure/Cloud/Hardware with a background in Strategy, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain Optimization
  • Experience with CAPEX and OPEX principles
  • Problem solving and strategy experience, including expansive opportunity identification, data-driven segmentation, and framing of sophisticated/ambiguous problems
  • Experience in completing multiple cloud/infrastructure/hardware efficiency or optimization projects
  • Technical experience in infrastructure, hardware or similar designs
  • Experience collaborating and working with internal and external organizations and individuals
  • Experience in building decision scenarios & options and communicating at the all levels of the org.
  • A related technical degree required
  • Experience in Infrastructure Cost optimization planning and execution
  • Experience with Public cloud financial tools and cost management such as AWS Cost explorer, AWS CUR
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles and best practices

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • SAAS experience
  • Experience handling major cost-saving projects from inception through post-implementations

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, Salesforce will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $176,800 to $243,100. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $192,900 to $265,200. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
