Job Overview

At Burndy, the Plant Accountant will serve as an expert in quantitative and qualitative variance analysis while working closely with the plant operations and management teams. The overall mission of this role is to identify and interpret data to help the organization make effective operational decisions that contribute to overall profitability.

A Day In The Life

  • Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Review production order variances and WIP aging report
  • Monitor plant expenses
  • Approve plant purchase requisitions
  • Review plant AFE's being submitted for capital projects
  • Review and assist with GRIR/ MRBR to resolve any PO receiving/ payment issues
  • Prepare annual plant budget and monthly plant forecast
  • Prepare month end closing analysis and reporting
  • Work with operations team to identify & measure the return on productivity projects at the plant
  • Lead the plants annual Physical Inventory working with the operations team.
  • Lead the plants fixed asset inventory every 3 years
  • Support plant requests for internal, external and sox audits as needed
  • Assist Plant Manager and operations team with ad hoc analysis as needed and routine reporting


What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 2+ years related experience working for a manufacturing company with a fully integrated ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Priorexperience leading physical inventories.
  • Must be strong in Excel.
  • Highly organized with an ability to work well under tight time constraints.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical accounting materials to non-accountants
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
