Position Summary |
The Business Process Improvement Specialist position is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and implementing strategies to enhance operational eciency, productivity, and quality. The primary objective is to optimize business processes, workflows, and reports to achieve improved outcomes and reduced costs. The Business Process Improvement Specialist will analyze and identify opportunities to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance. This position will optimize processes to deliver effective outcomes, cost savings, improved reliability, and support new initiatives. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- One or more years or work experience with process improvement, performance optimization, leveraging Lean, or Six Sigma concepts,
- Proficiency in process analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of business operations and process management
- Ability to think strategically and understand the big picture
- Proficiency in technological solutions for Process documentation and project management tracking & includes but is not limited to Microsoft Office products and tools, including Power Automate and Power BI.

Business Project Improvement:
- Participate in business improvement projects working toward our goal of establishing a continuous process improvement culture. Support development and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
- Communicate to understand unit business processes.
- Identify inefficiencies in business processes and recommend improvements, including policy and procedures, providing one or more potential future states and the resulting cost savings.
- Participate in the process design and solution architecture for process improvement projects to improve quality, reduce costs, or increase productivity resulting in significant business improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Understand and interpret data provided for all process improvement projects.
- Analyze and compare data and documentation to identify trends and areas for improvement; communicate the results to project teams and leadership.
- Monitor process performance and measure success using process maps, tables, and other charts for reporting purposes.
- Monitors the introduction of new methodologies into processes and evaluates effectiveness.
- Assist with development and execution of change management plans, communicate process changes to relevant project/process stakeholders.
- Take on assignments and deliver expected project outcomes both independently and as part of a team.
- Create processes, process maps, business solutions, and reports to support unit operations and improve operational efficiencies.

Documentation and Project Management:
- Works with units to properly document necessary business processes as part of a business continuity plan.
- Create process documentation.
- Conduct process analysis, mapping and flowcharting to document business processes; Optimize or redesign process flows to meet project requirements.
- Maintain business process documentation.
- Update all process related documents as needed to ensure process analysis documents are current and up-to-date.

Collaborations and Facilitation:
- Assist leadership in defining the short-term and long-term objectives and potential gains.
- Assist in all aspects of the process redesign for entire project cycle. This includes but is not limited to determining project scope, planning and schedule based on business needs and customer requirements.
- Assist in planning and executing process improvement projects.
- Engage, collaborate, work closely with, and provide leadership with the necessary information needed to build the appropriate data analytics applications prior to and after project implementation.
- Train operational teams and leadership in new technologies and processes during and after project implementation.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with Finance Division and UGA units using both written and verbal communication.
- Effectively communicate information and requirements to relevant stakeholders throughout the entire project.
- Develop and build relationships with stakeholders through collaboration and knowledge sharing to maximize effectiveness and efficiencies in reaching goals
