Acara Solution and our client in Manassas, VA have a contract-to-direct hire position available. Advanced Electrical Engineer
$75.00 per hour Here's what you'd do:
- Analyze and design AC-DC and DC-DC power systems and power control
- Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
- Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems
- Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions to design hardware and electronics based on commercial and industry components and technologies
- Design cable assemblies
- Develop new electronics in the form of PCB designs and corresponding tests
- Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
- Generate design and interface documentation.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics
- Minimum of 5 years experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases
- Minimum of 5 years experience with MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461 design and qualification
- Minimum of 5 years experience with design and debugging of switch mode DC-DC converters, including knowledge of control loop stability analysis
- Minimum of 5 years experience with design and debugging of 3-phase AC-DC conversion, including transformer design
- Minimum of 5 years experience in common communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDS
- Minimum of 5 years experience in analog and digital circuit design
- Minimum of 5 years experience with lab equipment, including signal generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, power analyzers
- Minimum of 5 years experience in all phases of PCB design, including the creation of high-level functional diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry, and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- OrCAD Capture experience
- Experience with firmware or microcontrollers
- Experience with VHDL/Verilog
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
