Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Assistant for the department of Kinesiology and Health within the School of Arts & Sciences. The Research Project Assistant works with Dr. Malin and colleagues in the Department of Kinesiology and Health on a NIH- NIDDK R01 project investigating the relation of extracellular vesicles on vascular health and insulin sensitivity in people with type 2 diabetes.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Assists the daily operations of clinical research including development, coordination, and implementation of exercise training, along with data acquisition/entry and proper study documentation.
  • Works will be completed under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi-routine work and within established work parameters.
  • Makes decisions or choices following standard practices and procedures.
  • Works is usually reviewed upon completion.
  • Performs professional work requiring general knowledge and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field or discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant research experience.
Certifications/Licenses

  • CPR/AED certified.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general principles and practices within a discipline and ability to use that knowledge for practical application.
  • Skills are normally acquired through an accumulation of work experiences and/or specific work-related training programs.
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy.

  • CPR/AED certified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers 1 year research experience, preferably working with adults and other special populations (e.g. older adults or people at risk for cardiovascular disease).
  • Experience in health risk appraisal, comprehensive fitness testing, and exercise prescription are preferred.
  • Certification obtained through ACSM or NSCA is preferred.
  • Advanced degrees (e.g. Master's) in Kinesiology or similar area will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations on clinical trials and of human subject research ethics.
