The School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS) is the largest academic unit at Rutgers University and the center of the undergraduate experience on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning the liberal arts. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clerical Assistant for the School of Arts and Sciences. The Clerical Assistant in the Abraira Lab is integral in supporting unit management and must adeptly navigate the demands of a modern office environment.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Manages digital document filing systems is a key responsibility, demanding organizational skills and an eye for detail to ensure easy retrieval of electronic documents and data
  • integrity.
  • Handles various digital communication platforms, including emails through Outlook with the expectation of timely responses and effective forwarding, as well as professional phone call management.
  • Creates and edits documents using advanced word processing software in Microsoft 365, preparing reports, and assisting with presentations are part of the daily tasks.
  • Handles basic bookkeeping and financial record-keeping, including processing invoices and monitoring departmental expenditures.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Calls for a problem-solver with a creative mindset, someone who is not only capable but also comfortable speaking/interacting with other unit administrators and external contacts to resolve issues.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat tools for creating and modifying PDFs is also essential, reflecting the need for versatile document handling capabilities.
