Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Front Desk Student Accommodation Assistant for the Office of Disability Services ( ODS). The position will assist with the facilitation and coordination of accommodations for eligible students in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Helps students with the registration process, and any work therein.
  • Handles production of notices given to a student outlining their accommodations.
  • Secures note-takers which may include corresponding with students and faculty.
  • Coordinates exam arrangements which may include working with registered students, professors, staff, and proctors.
  • Trains students on using assistive technology approved from our office as an accommodation.
  • Answers questions about services, via phone, email, and in person.
  • Handles other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant office experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous work in disability services or the health fields a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills; listening, oral and written.
  • Must have Microsoft Office software skills.
