JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Mechanical Fabrication and Assembly Department in the Undersea Systems Office (USO) at The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is looking for a quality conscious Mechanical Engineering Support Specialist to work multiple projects and perform a wide range of tasks. The mission of the Mechanical Fabrication and Assembly Department is to develop and maintain expertise in the research, development, assembly, integration, and delivery of specialty electro-mechanical systems for undersea applications. You will apply practical engineering assignments that include facility and experimental support hardware lay-out and design, fabrication, assembly and test; facility maintenance and repair of capital and test equipment in support of various sponsored/University projects; meet with faculty and staff engineers to define the scope of task requirements and schedule constraints, and communicate with engineers and project managers to provide progress reports and facilitate the identification of resources needed to accomplish the task/project. Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA. This position will require periodic travel to remote locations in support of testing as part of a small team of researchers, engineers, and technologists.
