JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Plant Science in the College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking a Research Project Manager to coordinate a multi-disciplinary cropping systems experiment, which includes research and extension outreach objectives. The project manager will provide leadership in:

  • Study design and data collection protocols;

  • Management of budgets, organic certification process, and wage employees;

  • Coordination of workflow among four research programs (Agronomy, Weed Sci, Food Sci, Poultry Sci);

  • Lead extension outreach efforts, including planning and coordination of advisory board meetings and field workshops; and

  • Oversee data management and participate in analysis, writing, and reporting of project results.

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.

Location and reporting structure:This position will be located at Penn State University, University Park, PA and will be principally advised by John Wallace in the Plant Science Department.

Background and Qualifications:Minimum requirements include a master's degree in Agronomy or a related field and one or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. We are looking for candidates with excellent organizational skills, a demonstrated record of research experience in organic field crop production systems, strong-writing skills for both scientific and lay audience, and a publication record in agronomy.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
