JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Graphic Design Specialist supports Penn State Great Valley's creative and marketing needs. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, this position plays a critical role in creating engaging visual content for various campus units and initiatives, including recruitment, academics, student services, alumni development, and event promotion. The role encompasses graphic design for web and print, social media management, campus photography, and occasional support for website updates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Graphic Design
    • Develop and produce creative assets, including designs for email campaigns, websites, flyers, posters, giveaways, digital displays, and advertisements.
    • Support internal and external communication efforts for campus units and committees.
  • Social Media Management
    • Design, curate, and schedule content for all social media platforms.
    • Track and analyze social media performance to optimize strategies.
  • Photography
    • Capture and edit photos for campus events, headshots, and promotional materials.
    • Organize and upload images to shared drives or websites.
  • Website and Branding Support
    • Update website content and design elements as needed.
    • Develop and maintain consistent branding across materials and event collateral.

Qualifications

  • Required Education: An associate's degree is required, and a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Required Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in graphic design, marketing, or a related area.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools. Preferred experience with InDesign, Adobe, and Photoshop)
  • Strong understanding of branding and visual storytelling.
  • Familiarity with social media management platforms and best practices.
  • Photography and photo editing skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear and concise written communication.
  • Experience in Mailchimp and Drupal are a plus..

Additional Information

  • The role primarily supports departments across campus, with responsibilities including recruitment materials, event promotion, alumni development materials, and campus signage.
  • Creativity and problem-solving are critical to translating ideas into visually compelling designs that align with Penn State's brand standards.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
