Fleet Safety Specialist-FS1224

Will be responsible for overseeing the safety, performance and behavior of the company's fleet vehicles and their drivers. This will involve promoting and enforcing safety policies and procedures, monitoring vehicle operations, providing safety training, accident investigations and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct oversight of company-wide approved driver program including GPS monitoring.
  • Lead and manage the implementing processes the company will use to minimize risk and maximize the awareness of safety systems, equipment, and safe behaviors throughout the company.
  • Stay up to date and be knowledgeable with compliance for all Federal, (including OSHA and DOT) State and local vehicle safety regulations
  • Manage and deliver driver safety training programs to meet all government and company
  • Assist with vehicle related post-accident investigation and documentation
  • Plans, organizes, fleet safety activities with assigned drivers; assist assigned drivers with fleet safety, telematics and other driver safety training requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of company owned vehicles to ensure compliance with all safety and cleanliness requirements.
  • Monitor approved driver's motor vehicle records in accordance with the company's approved driver's policy.
  • Initiate and maintain all Department of Transportation Driver Qualification records.
  • Research technologies and recommend improvements and practices to reduce risk and prevent accidents.
  • Analyze vehicle safety data and accident reporting to identify patterns and areas of improvement.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, training programs, accident reports and prepare vehicle related performance reports.


Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Occupational Safety, Logistics or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle safety, fleet management, or transportation safety roles
  • Knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation
  • Experience in analyzing safety data, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Current driver's license (any classification)
  • May be required to travel to various job locations throughout the Charleston metro area
