That's why we're looking for a ServiceNow Architect to help guide the firm's usage of ServiceNow, ensuring a robust, optimized, and integrated platform that meets the evolving needs of departments both within and outside of IT.

The ServiceNow Architect, reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, will play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling our ServiceNow platform to align with our firm's strategic objectives. The architect will work closely with IT leadership, key stakeholders, and an established ServiceNow-focused team to drive a cohesive and impactful strategy and roadmap. Responsibilities also include establishing technical standards, proactively resolving issues to maintain platform stability, mentoring team members, and identifying improvement opportunities that foster continuous platform innovation.

POSITION DETAILS

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...



  • Designing, developing, and overseeing the ServiceNow architecture to support firm-wide business processes and priorities
  • Working with the ServiceNow executive governance group develop the long-term roadmap for ServiceNow, aligning platform capabilities with department and organizational goals
  • Serving as the technical authority for ServiceNow, providing architectural oversight, best practices, and industry insight to maximize platform efficiency
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to the ServiceNow administration and development team, facilitating skill development, and fostering a collaborative approach to platform development
  • Participating in the ServiceNow project lifecycle stages from initial scoping and requirement gathering through design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Overseeing integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise applications, ensuring seamless data flow, interoperability, and security
  • Assessing software releases, updates, and accompanying documentation to optimize upgrades, enhancements, and application changes, ensuring alignment with platform interfaces and architectural standards
  • Performing as project leader for small projects with limited duration
  • Developing and customizing ServiceNow workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, and integrations using JavaScript, Glide Record, Flow Designer, Script Includes, and other ServiceNow development tools
  • In conjunction with the ServiceNow technical governance group establishing, maintaining, and enforcing governance and standards to ensure the platform and capabilities are sound, and following good practices enabling upgradeability, usability, manageability, performance, and scalability
  • Participating in business requirements gathering for new or changing complex solutions and services and translate logical requirements to physical designs, taking account of business requirements, target environments, processes, performance requirements and existing systems and services


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or experience equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience architecting, designing, implementing ServiceNow
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is required
  • Expert understanding of multiple ServiceNow modules
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Flow Designer, Glide Record, Business Rules, Script Includes, and REST API integrations
  • Strong understanding of ITSM/ITIL frameworks


Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore, MD & Chicago, IL:

$142,000 - $215,000 per year

Pay Range for Candidates in Washington, DC

$149,000 - $220,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
