Job Summary
SMSI is looking for a summer intern to support our Engineering department in a full-time capacity. The intern will work closely with our engineering staff and assist with client projects. The intern will benefit from hands-on experience, technical training, mentoring from professional staff, and working within a positive team environment. The internship will run from May of 2025 - August of 2025.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:


  • Collaborating with engineers on the design and development of systems or structures.
  • Creating models using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software or other design tools.
  • Gathering and analyzing data related to engineering projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation.
  • Preparing design calculations, requisitions, specifications, manuals, and user guides.
  • Maintaining project files and updating records as needed.
  • Helping manage or track project schedules and timelines.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as other engineering departments or production.
  • Gaining practical experience and technical skills by working alongside experienced engineers.
  • Seeking feedback on performance to improve technical expertise and understanding of the field.

Educational Requirements
Student must be enrolled in an engineering program at an ABET accredited engineering school with the goal of obtaining a bachelor's degree in engineering. Students must be entering their Junior, or Senior, year in school beginning fall of 2025; or be enrolled in an engineering master's program.
