The Financial Analyst - Insurance and Regulatory provides support including financial analysis and regulatory review to the Senior Financial Analyst - Insurance and Regulatory and financial management staff. The incumbent is responsible for financial analysis and regulatory functions including reporting and filing. The incumbent coordinates the preparation of various internal and external reporting requirements including financial statements, utilization reports, membership reports, government required data (Health Care Reform Requirements), insurance business cost accounting, financial analysis, statutory reports, and other data requests. The Financial Analyst - Insurance and Regulatory supports the insurance organization's financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.

The Financial Analyst - Insurance and Regulatory works with independence in decision-making and performs under the general direction, guidance, and supervision of the Financial Planning & Analysis Supervisor.

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications



  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business/health care administration or finance is required; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of financial analysis and accounting experience is required. Experience in healthcare and/or insurance is highly desirable.
  3. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control principles. Understanding of regulatory requirements and filings and financial analysis, budget and financial reporting processes is required.
  4. Ability to prepare regulatory mandated filings and financial reports/statements is required.
  5. Experience with and understanding of general ledger accounting systems, including reporting software. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and effectively use GHC-SCW software and financial systems. Experience with Epic is desirable.
  6. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of and ability to use computer software programs and systems including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
  7. Ability to analyze financial data and make recommendations is required.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management is required.
  9. Excellent customer service abilities. Ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  10. Ability to maintain patient, organizational and financial confidentiality is required. Ability to learn and/or knowledge of HIPAA requirements required.
  11. Strong analytical skills, ability to pay attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required.
  12. Ability to work on multiple tasks and the ability to prioritize are required.
  13. Ability to use a computer keyboard extensively is required.
  14. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present findings to management and others are required.
  15. Ability to analyze, write, calculate, plan, explain, and investigate is required.
