POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager of Retail is accountable for operational leadership of dedicated retail outlets at Steamboat as well as retail component in shared Retail & Rental stores to optimize guest experience and deliver profitable results. This includes implementation of marketing and merchandising strategies, management of store layout and teams to drive financial performance. Duties include oversight of training of store managers for retail core functions, supporting service and sales training, maintains effective team communication, and promote the development and continued growth of the retail business units.

This position will report to the Director of Retail & Rental.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting combined Retail operations within combined Retail & Rental stores as well as direct oversite of dedicated Retail outlets to meet or exceed the established Retail & Rental divisions financial targets, employee engagement scores (EES) and guest satisfaction (NPS) metrics.
  • Work with Director and Senior Manager of Rental on an ongoing basis to monitor and execute on revenue and labor expenses for assigned outlets.
  • Collaborates with Business Development trainer to prepare and execute pre-season and ongoing associate training for POS Readiness, and sales training.
  • Oversight of product stock levels, empower managers to operate their business units including inventory control, product transfers, and inventory reporting to facilitate purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborates with managers on Steamboat Way Trail, training program development, training handbook creation, on-the-job training, etc.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of Retail & Rental strategic plans to align with resort strategy and priority programs.
  • Engage with Alterra Buying Group and Council strategic and operational meetings to review important updates, trends, results, and inventory movement.
  • Consult on resort's annual merchandise purchase of retail goods by established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with store managers and Visual Merchandising Manager to create compelling and unique store experiences.
  • Work on the front lines, attend team meetings, or assist with special projects based on business volume including acting MOD as necessary.
  • Lead and/or Attend Department Orientation and Training Meetings
  • Manage and provide satisfactory and timely guest resolution for customer relations and complaints.
  • Foster safe and secure working environments and best practices
  • Hire, evaluate, coach, discipline and terminate staff
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Business Management, merchandising and retail experience required.
  • Comfortable using information systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to quickly re-prioritize when problems arise.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and successfully complete motor vehicle record check and meet driver's standards requirements.
  • Team leadership.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, retail merchandising or similar field of study preferred


The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat Springs area base salary range: $67,815 to $80,000 per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Must be able to move boxes that weigh 1-50lbs (multiple sets of skis, ski racks, warehouse boxes)
  • Must be able to stand 60% of shift and move quickly and efficiently from one area to the next

WORKING CONDITIONS
