Responsibilities
The IT Disaster Recovery (DR) Specialist will collaborate with leaders across Members 1st's Information Technology and Business Continuity Teams to define and support key business recovery requirements and objectives. The IT DR Specialist supports our systems' continuing resilience, and timely recovery following the occurrence of an outage or major disaster that results in the partial or complete disruption of IT operations. The IT DR Specialist leads activities to ensure that DR service recovery plans are fully developed, documented, and tested by plan owners. With no budgetary responsibility, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strategic thinking, and effectively align the IT DR activities with those of the Business Continuity Management team. The IT Disaster Recovery (DR) Specialist will coordinate, schedule, and execute Technology Disaster Recovery planning and testing with internal teams and third-party vendors to test and validate DR services, ensure that DR tests meet both member and regulatory compliance requirements, internally and externally as applicable, implement and update DR Program process documents and collaborate in the development of written disaster recovery plans with plan owners, drive efforts to meet the desired recovery time objectives, drive constant validation of our DR programs, incorporating any identified weaknesses or points of failure into the continuous enhancement of our DR planning and testing practices, partner with the business unit, IT services, and Information Security to ensure all DR processes meet compliance criteria for PCI and other regulatory requirements, and conduct post-exercise lessons learned in order to implement DR process improvements SKILLS * Solid understanding of technology landscape as it relates to DR including cloud technologies and services, (AWS, Azure) operating systems, server management, information security, networking, storage and backup, and virtualization * Thorough knowledge and understanding of current DR planning techniques and technologies as well as the methods used in performing risk analysis and business impact analysis * Ability to work well interpersonally cross functionally and cross-discipline at various levels as well as influence and manage without direct authority * High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy * Prior experience developing and implementing scalable IT DR programs * Efficient in developing and maintaining DR documents, and collaborative development of written disaster recovery plans with plan owner COMPETENCIES * Effective knowledge * Accountability and self-management * Teamwork and leadership * Communication * Innovation and problem-solving WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing * Visually able to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading * Ability to sit for extended time periods * Sufficient manual skill for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment * Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel * Ability to exert minimum amounts of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
