Job Description Job Description Job Title: VDC Operator Reports To: VDC Lead or VDC Manager
Job Summary: The VDC Operator I is responsible for the creation and documentation of shop drawings, as-built drawings, and other associated design and construction documents. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Manage design and construction models as necessary to build working views and sheet views using Revit or other authoring software. Model conveyance, place devices, and produce dimensioned drawings for one or more disciplines using Revit or other authoring software. Generate design and construction documentation for structured cabling projects during design, shop drawings, and as-builts phases of a project. Coordinate electronic file and information exchange through various online platforms. Coordinate and communicate with VDC, design, and operations teams to resolve issues in the model, in the drawings, and in the field. Assist VDC and Operations teams in reviewing and resolving issues during construction and updating the drawings accordingly. Attend meetings and submit updates to management regarding project status and needs. Find, obtain, and manage various electronic files as needed for project coordination. Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read and write. Must have proven ability to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reports, and quality requirements. Ability to work effectively both independently and on a team. Flexible in handling multiple assignments and maintain attention to detail. Regular attendance is mandatory. Min USD $28.00/Hr. Max USD $40.00/Hr. Qualifications Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred. Prior experience with electrical, controls systems, or low voltage design is a plus. Must meet company minimum driving standards. Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, industry standards, and other project-related activities, their interfaces, and interdependencies. Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and oral communication. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit: Create, open, and save files. Create and populate views and sheets. Place devices, equipment, and pathways with guidance. Correct drawings with guidance, such as red lines. Follow company VDC standards. VDC Key Performance Indicators: Project Efficiency - Ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, minimizing waste and delays. Collaboration Effectiveness - Fostering seamless communication and coordination among project stakeholders. Data Accuracy - Guaranteeing the reliability and precision of information used on drawings and BIM models. Deliverable Quality - Delivering accurate and comprehensive documentation. On-time Delivery - Meeting project deadlines to maintain client satisfaction and project progress. Cost Savings - Maximizing financial efficiency by reducing unnecessary expenses throughout the project lifecycle. Role Specific Key Performance Indicators: Clear and concise 2D Documentation within IES's VDC Standards. Ability to translate verbal, written, and drawn direction into Revit documentation output. Client satisfaction with all deliverables. Career Path: Position promotes to VDC Operator II.
