Description

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a Sr. Account Manager, Employee Benefit Services within TruePlan Benefit and Retirement Advisors (TruePlan). TruePlan is an industry leader in employee benefits and retirement plan consulting. TruePlan delivers tangible business results to finance and human resource leaders, enabling them to enhance plan offerings while remaining competitive and reducing overall plan costs. Reporting to the Director, Employee Benefit Services this position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the client relationship for the purpose of business and revenue retention, and overall client satisfaction with TruePlan employee benefit products and services.

This position will be based in our office in Rensselaer, NY with a hybrid work environment considered. The salary for this position is between $65,000 and $73,500 annually in addition to an annual incentive of up to 10% based on certain performance metrics. Payrate offered will be based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities and in consideration of internal equity.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Manages client relationships for the purpose of client and revenue retention.
  • Builds and maintains ongoing relationships with clients. Negotiates renewals and identifies new sources of revenue opportunities.
  • Communicates and works with Director regarding any client issues.
  • Builds client relationships with multiple decision makers and influencers within each account.
  • Engages client in the discussion of other divisional products (such as retirement services) and makes appropriate referral to sales staff.
  • Transitions to and manages clients on the Ease/Navigator benefits administration platform.
  • Educates clients in design, funding, and administration options for employee benefits at renewal as well as effectively communicating more complex benefit concepts during the year.
  • Gathers information about clients' needs and utilizes in-depth knowledge of the insurance market to find suitable solutions.
  • In conjunction with Director, develops annual business plan detailing activities for the following year.
  • Delivers and presents renewals to clients.
  • Services accounts with focus on service calendar.
  • Maintains current knowledge of vendor product portfolio.
  • Maintains knowledge of NYS and Federal compliance requirements and advises clients accordingly.
  • Keeps apprised of changes in the insurance marketplace and major trends.
  • Negotiates with vendors on pricing and benefit features.
  • For newly acquired accounts, manages all transition activities to ensure smooth implementation process and effective delivery of service.
  • Keeps apprised of legislative and regulatory changes that impact both small and large employers.
  • Responsible for entering, managing and maintaining client information in CMS system



Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of experience with employee benefit services or seven (7) years of experience related to employee benefit products and/or client experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted
  • Experience with employee benefits and group products such as medical plans, community and fully insured, dental, life, AD&D, vision, disability, voluntary and life-style plans is required.
  • Experience with managing Ease/Navigator, or similar benefits administration platform preferred.


  • New York State Life and Health License required or must be obtained three months post-hire
  • Group Medicare certification required or must be obtained three months post-hire.
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays as needed.
  • Must have the ability and confidence to present, work, and build relationships with senior level staff and be able to provide consultative value to client from a global and strategic perspective.
  • Must be a self-starter who is motivated, enthusiastic, and has exceptional relationship building skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, possess good analytical, oral and written communication skills, and perform well under pressure.
