SCOPE OF POSITION:
Reporting directly to the Store Director (SD) is responsible for Produce department operations and assigned personnel. Provides day-to-day coordination/direction over Produce Associates. Assists in direct performance of duties and responsibilities of Produce Personnel on a day-to-day basis.
BASIC FUNCTION: Effectively and efficiently manages Produce operations to achieve established sales, marketing and profit goals. Promotes and maintains positive customer and employee relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Promotes and maintains compliance to store and Produce Department policies, procedures and processes.
  2. Ensures product availability, quality, variety, freshness, proper display/facing and access meets established standards.
  3. Order and maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality and turn over from maximum sales and return on investment.
  4. Adhere to Company, local, state and federal health and civil code regulations relating to product handling/processing and related health regulations and sanitary procedures.
  5. Monitors department personnel to ensure efficient/effective operations.
  6. Provides direction and mentoring to Produce Associates.
  7. Able to write weekly work schedules to ensure all assigned shifts are properly staffed.
  8. Able to provide coordination, delegation and follow up of department personnel to ensure maximum performance. Audits performance and takes appropriate/timely corrective action as required.
  9. Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, positive, team oriented, customer-focused attitude within internal store personnel and between all store locations. Leads by example.
  10. Keeps Store Director aware of concerns, issues, etc. warranting their attention, knowledge of, action and/or resolution in a timely manner.
  11. Works in unison with all management team to achieve store objectives.
  12. Provides direction, motivation, coordination, support, training/cross training, development, and follow-up of assigned personnel.
  13. Responsible for timely performance/development evaluation for assigned personnel.
  14. Able to work varied shifts and meet attendance requirements.
  15. Maintain department records, files, accounts and databases in areas of responsibility as required. Ensures security and confidentiality of assigned company records, financial records, databases, file, etc.
  16. Keeps department manager/assistant manager, lead personnel aware of concerns, issues, etc. warranting their attention, knowledge of, action and/or resolution in a timely manner.
  17. Notifies Store Manager on personnel or policy violations requiring Store Director's attention and/or requires disciplinary action.
  18. Ensures department personnel present a neat, well-groomed appearance and wear appropriate store attire and nametag.
  19. Maintain effective housekeeping on a regular basis.
  20. Able to meet and maintain expected performance level for the essential job functions required in this position.

  22. Able to perform other duties as deemed necessary by Store Manager or Assistant Store Director.

Position Specific Requirements:
  1. Sound working knowledge of Produce Operations, practices and procedures within a retail grocery environment desired.
  2. Able to effectively and efficiently provide direction, coordination, day-to-day follow-up, training and development and performance evaluation of department personnel.
  3. Be self-directed, results oriented, project a positive business image and lead by example.
  4. Able to work efficiently/effectively in a fast paces multi changing work environment.
  5. Excellent administrative teams building, mentoring, organization, coordination, and attention to detail and follow through skills.
  6. Excellent customer relations, communications and problem solving skills.
  7. Effectively work with people of varied socio-economic backgrounds.
  8. Able to do basic PC entries required in this position.
  9. Able to work with produce supplies, products and department sanitation supplies. (Not be allergic to products, supplies or have problems with smells.)
  10. Able to operate department equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  11. Able to work hours required. This includes flexible shift schedules, overtime and weekends required.
  12. Able to work in physical environment with continuous exposure to coolers, ovens, fryers and meet physical demands -see enclosed Physical Demands/Environment Factor Sheet.
  13. Able to meet and maintain job productivity, attendance, punctuality, safety requirements and wear sanitary and/or safety attire.
  14. Due to nature of direct contact with and processing of food products for consumption, is able to meet and maintain personal and department health and sanitary practices to protect public from exposure/contamination of product handled/processed within established State Health Regulations/Mandates.   15. Able to write and adjust weekly work schedules.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS OPERATED: Proficient skill in operation of standard department equipment, which includes scales, box cutters, cleaning equipment and stand store as well as office equipment, which includes fax, phones, PC, copy machine, calculator, printers scanners, etc.
