The Receptionist - Front Desk is responsible for greeting and directing all patients, visitors and staff upon entering or calling the hospital. Ensures that all visitors obtain a visitor pass upon entering the lobby. The job duties are to assist indirectly in providing patient care by ensuring a safe, healthful, pleasant environment. Tasks occasionally require internal communication outside of the work group to exchange work-related information. Strong customer service skills are required in order to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and staff.

Work Location: Columbia, MD at Howard County Medical Center

Work Schedule: PRN/casual status (3pm-9pm), weekend work required

Minimum Education & Experience:




  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma is required.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience required.
  • Basic knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • An individual with this experience should be capable of performing the stated job duties within three (3) months under minimal supervision.



Salary Range: Minimum 16.86 per hour - Maximum 27.84 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
