Summary of Position:

The AW609 Service Engineer (SE) is to be responsible for the in depth understanding of all aircraft (A/C) systems (Mechanical, Electrical, and Avionic) as well as their functions with the goal of supporting defining maintenance activities during developmental phase and their execution during in-service operations. The SE is also tasked with the responsibility of performing maintainability analyses on existing maintenance tasks to ensure tasks can be executed as well as devising maintainability or accessibility improvements through aircraft Change Requests (CR) as well as the definition of specialized Ground Support Equipment (GSE) / tooling if applicable.

The SE will also be responsible for managing the validation of all A/C maintenance procedures contained within Data Modules (DM) which will populate the maintenance manual of the AW609.This will require coordinating with the external Technical Publications (TP) supplier to support the compilation and incorporation of all maintenance procedures and technical content within the AW609s Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA). The AW609 Service Engineer will also be tasked with supporting the analysis of aircraft Direct Maintenance Cost (DMC) and the ongoing initiative for its overall reduction through dedicated technical review of A/C system and components.

Once the AW609 will be in-service the SE will be the primary point of contact for Customers dealing as liaison toward the company for solving technical issues, provide troubleshooting instructions and clarification on maintenance procedures. The SE will be responsible for analyzing and provide response to Customer's queries defining the best and most effective solution, tracking information into the company systems and escalating/reporting issues to the chain in command when required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cooperation with Maintenance Technicians/Engineers for maintenance procedures validation both on A/C and tabletop. Liaise with Technical Publication authoring and editing of procedures within the Data Modules (DM).

Responsible of performing maintainability analyses on existing maintenance tasks to ensure tasks can be executed. Devising maintainability and/or accessibility improvements through aircraft Change Requests (CR) as well as the definition of specialized Ground Support Equipment (GSE) / tooling if applicable

Analysis of aircraft design and coordination with Design Organization (DO) engineers to identify and ensure maintainability and accessibility aspects are considered in the aircraft design and propose design changes if improvements are required.

Coordination with Experimental Operations and Production to review Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), Functional Test Procedures (FTP), and Engineering Technical Instructions (ETI) for their in-service applicability.

Support the analysis and generation of Aircraft Fault Isolation Procedures (AFIP) to be used as initial corrective action.

Provide technical support to Customer with ability to prioritize the issues and time constraints. Support will range from the day-by-day operation to in depth analysis on specific topic, periodic review, and occasionally direct on-site support at Customer's facility.

Follow experimental aircraft flight activities and scheduled maintenance performed to source lessons learned to apply to in-service use.

  1. Qualifications for Position:

A. Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering Required

B. Experience

  • 1-5 years of experience in aerospace industry, preferably in technical support roles
  • Previous experience in Aircraft maintenance, design, manufacturing
  • Previous experience with Tilt Rotor and/or traditional Rotorcraft preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, technical documentation/ manuals.
  • Good working knowledge of MS office (word, powerpoint, excel). Experience with SAP desirable.
  • Knowledge of the AW609 is a plus
