Gundersen Health System has an opportunity available for a new graduate with a Master's degree in Communicative Disorders to join our team to complete your Clinical Fellowship Year (13 months) with us in La Crosse, WI. We are seeking a Speech Pathologist with interest in working with adults in an inpatient hospital setting.Primary responsibilities include providing evaluation and treatment services to patients on our acute care units and recently renovated CARF Certified 20-bed adult Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

What You'll Do:

As a Speech and Language Pathologist Fellow (SLPF) you will evaluate and assess individuals who have medical problems or other health related conditions impacting language, motor speech, cognition, right hemisphere dysfunction, basic voice, and dysphagia. In coordination with the referring provider and other clinical staff, you will develop a plan of care and provide treatment techniques and interventions to restore and improve function in alignment with relevant state Speech and Language Pathology Practice Standards. The SLPF will be mentored by an individual holding American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification in Speech and Language Pathology and will adhere to the Clinical Fellowship standards set by ASHA. During your Clinical Fellowship Year you will gain competency with tests/protocols for language impairment, motor speech disorders, cognitive impairment, right hemisphere dysfunction, basic voice disorders, and dysphagia as well as proficiency with video fluoroscopy. Our Speech Therapy team consists of 10 SLPs.

What's Available:

  • Fulltime, 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE)

  • Monday - Friday day shifts, every other Saturday and 1 holiday a year

  • Starting salary of $72,500 with applicable weekend differential and holiday pay

  • Limited to a term of 13 months for Clinical Fellowship Year. Ongoing employment after completion of the Clinical Fellowship will be a consideration if program growth/patient needs support such, but is not guaranteed

What You'll Need:

  • Master's degree in Communicative Disorders

  • Speech-Language Pathologist Wisconsin Temporary License (SPEECH PTH)

  • Skill in serving patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurogenic diseases/disorders is required
