We are now looking for a 6G Radio Principal Standardization Lead to work with 3GPP radio standardization in our team with 6G physical layer related radio topics (L1) and related research activities.

Within Strategy and Technology Nokia Standards (NSD), we drive Nokia's technology leadership by developing and bringing innovative concepts to industry and standardization organizations. NSD also works within the ecosystem to ensure an inventor friendly industry environment, favorable to Nokia's business success. The unit has a strategic objective of anticipating, shaping, and protecting future technologies and systems and ensuring appropriate standards and industry specifications are developed.

Nokia Standards targets collaboration with internal and external experts to advance the state-of-the-art technology landscape as well as to protect Nokia's intellectual property. We are looking for ambitious and highly engaged colleagues as part of the Standardization & Industry Environment Team.

As part of our team, you will be an expert on radio technologies and you will:

  • Act as strategic leader in identifying device radio implementation and technology directions for 6G radio technology development based on your practical device radio implementation experience and learninga
  • Contributing your device radio modem implementation learnings to the development of future 3GPP 6G radio technologies
  • Learn how latest technology developments in different technology area are shaping the evolution of 6G radio technology
  • Work with a world-class team to drive 6G radio technologies in global standardization
  • Design and develop L1 radio technology elements for radio standardization specifications in the areas of physical layer specifications
  • Create inventions and intellectual property (IPR's) and support strengthening of Nokia's IPR portfolio
  • Contribute to and participate in 3GPP standardization meetings for a 3GPP RAN WG1 working group and develop global radio standardization specifications

The final job grade depends on the applicant's experience and background.

You have:

  • M.Sc. degree or Ph.D. with strong knowledge of the 5G radio aspects, especially physical layer UE radio modem implementation understanding for 4G or 5G, and ideally also further experience in device related radio implementation
  • Willingness to grow as a radio expert for 6G physical layer with relevant topics on-going in 3GPP Releases 20 and beyond
  • Fluent spoken English and proficiency in technical writing are essential
  • The ability to work in a multinational and distributed team, as well as solid self-motivation
  • Practical experience of devices (like smartphone or IoT devices) radio or radio modem development

It would be nice if you also had one or both of the following experiences:

  • Experience in 3GPP standardization or working with 3GPP radio specifications
  • A track record of innovation
