We are currently hiring a Medical Coding Specialist to join our dynamic Team! This is a great opportunity to gain needed industry experience from a very talented group and successful grow and contribute within our department.

Responsibilities

    Codes medical terms including historical medical conditions, baseline signs and symptoms, adverse events, medications and non-drug therapies using MedDRA and WHODrug dictionaries.
  • Writes clear and concise queries for coding clarification.
  • Reviews listings of coded terms to ensure accuracy and consistency of coded data.
  • Researches and resolves discrepancies.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulations and guidelines that pertain to coding of clinical studies.
  • Liaises and coordinates coding activities with internal and external clinical study contacts to meet study specific medical coding requirements and timelines.
  • Ensures that clinical research, clinical operations and statistics are kept informed of the implications of coding and dictionary rules and needs on the collection and analysis of clinical data.
  • Remains current with evolving industry standards on medical coding, and maintains knowledge on updates or changes in medical coding dictionaries (e.g. MedDRA and WHO Drug) or coding processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience required and minimum of one (1) year of medical coding experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant and preferred education and/or work experience.
  • Medical terminology is a plus.
  • Medical experience in nursing (LPN/RN) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and have the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously in support of various studies
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
