Overview To manage the Product Management team within Strategic & Operational Analysis in the Savings Products Division. Partner with cross-functional teams across Navy Federal Credit Union to identify opportunities, refine business outcomes, build new capabilities, and drive product roadmap for our members. Directly supervise, support, guide, and lead a product management team that defines what the product features should be and explains why they are needed. Serve as a liaison between key business stakeholders and technology teams to define, develop, communicate, and execute strategic plans for introducing new product initiatives. Own and drive recommendations for the roadmap and refine and prioritize product backlog based on business objectives, member research, competitive dynamics, and data analytics. Responsibilities
- Assist in development, and retention for a high performing team of product managers, ensuring roles and career trajectories are well-defined and evolve as the organization transitions
- Responsible for defining and supporting a large variety of product initiatives that help build desirable, feasible, and sustainable products/services that meet member and internal customer needs with minimal oversight
- Empower team members by giving clear areas of ownership that align with product and portfolio objectives and business outcomes
- Develops a deep understanding of the division's business objectives, risk tolerance, and member needs in order to provide a first line management review of analyses that identify needs, problems, and solutions
- Ensures the Portfolio, Program, & Team layers are aligned on outcomes that deliver tangible business value and bridges big picture understanding and tactical needs
- Advise team members on how to collaborate with business and technology stakeholders and partners to communicate vision, direction, and strategic objectives
- Removing roadblocks for team members on their projects and initiatives
- Effectively communicate with staff, senior management, internal technology teams, and vendors/system providers regarding system implementations, enhancements, process redesign, and technology programs
- Assist team members in broad thinking, including ensuring new designs, changes, or enhancements to systems meet user requirement needs and ensure adherence to industry, regulatory, department, and enterprise standards
- Manage and continuously improve business relationships, demand/resource planning, and prioritization of resources and initiatives
- Enables complex decision making for senior leaders around product features through clear and concise communication
- Leads team by acting as a thought leader, driving competitive intelligence, analyzing customer insights / data, and building team consensus
- Evaluate the effectiveness of regulatory and industry practices, products, technologies, and vendor offerings
- Provide business knowledge in current and emerging technologies, trends, and practices
- Develops unprompted new ideas, initiatives, and recommendations that drive continuous improvement
- Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Experience in managing product vision, backlog, and road mapping to build and launch technology and process redesign
- Experience in Risk, and/or Auditing acumen, approaches, and risk mitigation
- Significant experience working on multiple priorities and driving solutions in a fast-paced working environment
- Experience in researching, compiling, and documenting data, business processes, and workflow
- Experience in applications and system/user performance testing
- Experience managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of high complexity
- Advanced skill effectively communicate technical and non-technical issues and information clearly and concisely to all levels of management and team members
- Significant skill identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions
- Significant skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role
- Significant organizational, research, analytical, problem-solving, planning and time management skills
- Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Significant skill interacting with staff, management, and vendors, with diplomacy and thoughtfulness
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the financial services environment and Navy Federal's operations, policies, and procedures
- Master's Degree in Business, Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
- Expertise in being a quick learner with an analytical and flexible thinking style
- Experience in leading, training, guiding, and mentoring others
- Advanced comfortability with big, undefined problems and the capability to break down problems to find solutions
- A significantly strong data sense, combined with analytical skills to help make informed recommendations
- Demonstrated skill in having a curiosity for learning how technical process flows work
- Extensive product leadership experience, with a proven track record of successfully launching or managing products or platforms 5+ years of experience in product management or related roles
