Job Summary:



The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Behavioral Health Specialist for IOP. IOP is located in Aurora Colorado at the School of Medicine OCD clinic.

This position will report to and serve under the supervision of the OCD Clinical Director at the Department of Psychiatry. This position is responsible for managing various aspects of patient and administrative duties of the clinic. The BHS will create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor, staff while performing tasks of, care coordination, case management, and schedule. The BHS will be responsible for attending IOP groups and providing additional therapeutic support in group, individual check-ins, and milieu management.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Attend IOP groups (in person) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to assist with group and milieu management.
  • Assist team with scheduling IOP intakes, admission dates, and orientation. Work directly with the team member who does intake and the insurance specialist to manage admissions and discharges.
  • Manage IOP email (e.g. follow up with referrals and emails).
  • Follow up with patients on paperwork for admission to IOP (i.e. disclosure statements).
  • Assist in the facilitation of orientation for new IOP patients on Thursdays. This includes reviewing IOP policies and providing any therapeutic disclosure paperwork.
  • Provide care coordination meetings beginning when a patient is admitted to IOP. These meetings need to occur on a regular basis to address discharge planning, assessment and connecting to needed services (e.g. volunteer or job opportunities, social skills training, occupational therapist, etc.). If someone is not interested in other services, you are required to meet with them at least 1x upon starting IOP, 1x at the midway point, and 1x prior to discharge.
  • Send out and collect IOP assessments from current IOP patients from intake to discharge. This should be done at minimum every other week.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

    • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


  • One (1) year of experience working in healthcare.


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, social work
  • Experience in mental health care or academic medicine.
  • Experience and/or understanding of OCD and anxiety disorders.
  • Patient care experience.
  • Experience with healthcare EMR (EPIC).

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Flexibility. Job duties may change, patient population changes, and policies can change in academic medicine. This candidate should be able to accept changes and practice flexibility on a day-to-day basis.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently. This position requires the ability to manage time and complete tasks, documentation, and patient encounters during work hours.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this part-time (0.5 FTE) position has been established as $21,474 - $24,913.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
