Job Description

The Experiential-Learning Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in creating high-impact learning opportunities for students enrolled at UMKC's Bloch School of Management. The coordinator supports experience-based learning design by working with Bloch School faculty and community partners. The coordinator supports delivery of experiences by coordinating events and programs and facilitating student and partner engagement. The coordinator focuses on application-based learning designed to provide opportunities for practice and feedback, helping to develop critical skills for the workplace. By building professional relationships with local businesses, industry partners, and internal stakeholders, you will promote employment opportunities and educational achievement, aligning with the Bloch School's mission to provide distinctive educational experiences that enhance talent development and foster career success.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning:

  • Benchmark the use of experience-based learning within the curriculum at leading business schools. Develop models applicable for Bloch School courses, ensuring the capacity to address student learning outcomes for our undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and plan experience-based learning within undergraduate and courses, with a focus on experience-based learning that offers engagement with partner organizations and industry representatives.
  • Partner with student organizations to design and plan co-curricular experience-based learning opportunities.

Partner Engagement and Volunteer Management:

  • Promote opportunities for partner organizations and industry representatives to participate in Bloch courses with experience-based learning components. The incumbent will promote opportunities for providing data and organizational information for capstone projects, serving as a live case study, and serving as judges and assessors for experience-based learning course components.
  • Connect partner organizations with faculty who are teaching experience-based learning courses. Facilitate efforts to design projects that meet instructional needs and that can be supported by organizational partners.
  • Promote micro-internships and consulting projects with partner organizations and support partners by assisting with efforts to identify project parameters and deliverables.

Program Delivery and Event Management:

  • Support delivery of experience-based learning through event management and coordination of the logistics associated with partner organizations participating in Bloch programming. The includes scheduling, space management, invitations and instructions to program participants, parking, and arrangements for student travel to partner organizations.

Program Assessment:

  • Facilitate program assessment and evaluation by implementing student reflection assignments, self-evaluations, peer evaluations, and assessor evaluations.
  • Track engagement by partner organizations and students.

Communication and Promotion:

  • Assist in promoting and communicating experience-based learning to students and within the broader community. This includes promoting opportunities for micro-internships, consulting assignments, internships, case competitions, and interactive workshops with community partners.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Manage data relating to organizational partners, community volunteers, and student participants.
  • Manage student workers and related HR processes
  • Manage program budget and expense reports
Shift

Typical office hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Some flexed work hours outside of "normal" shift hours expected based on event scheduling/ planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in areas related to program management, event management, student services, instruction and course design, or employer relations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in technology tools for managing data, project management, and communications.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of experiential learning principles and practices, especially in a business school context.
  • Three years of experience in areas related to program management, event management, student services, instruction and course design, or employer relations.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$24.00 to $28.85 per hour (commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity)
