Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company, is seeking a Chief Engineer in its Newtown, PA Facility. The Chief Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge engineering products within the Cargo Division. Working closely with a Product Line Manager and a dedicated Cross-Functional Team, the Chief Engineer will leverage their expertise in systems engineering principles and processes to ensure the successful execution of projects that meet critical business needs. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and exceptional problem-solving skills.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical leader for a product line, utilizing systems engineering principles to ensure the successful development and lifecycle management of our products.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Line Manager to oversee the product from cradle to grave, ensuring it meets all technical, quality, and performance requirements and standards.
  • Work closely with development and revenue program management to guide a cross-functional team (including functions outside of engineering such as science, manufacturing, quality assurance, service, and supply chain) to successfully execute new product and product option development efforts.
  • Oversee the verification and validation test efforts of new products and product options.
  • Perform System Hazard Analysis/Risk Assessments and develop mitigation solutions/strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Support development and maintenance of a Unit Production Cost (UPC) model during design efforts to ensure product cost goals are met.
  • Conduct technical and programmatic risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and report on development project progress, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Support bid & proposal activities, including concept development for customizations or new features, technical responses, and NRE estimation.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the development of business strategy and product roadmaps.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong project and people management skills
  • Knowledge of a broad range of engineering disciplines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional, collaborative environment
  • Willingness to travel domestic and international, occasional
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies
  • Experience with system integration, testing, and validation
