CBIZ is seeking an experiencedVP of Business Intelligence & Corporate Analyticsto join our Business Transformation and Innovation (BTI) function. This leadership position will oversee and expand a team responsible for leveraging corporate data to drive strategic decision-making within our professional services firm, creating significant added value for our organization and clients. The role will focus on thedata modernization efforts, transforminginternal corporate data reporting resources and enhancing benchmarking capabilities to provide actionable insights and identify opportunities to better serve clients through industry, regional, and national perspectives.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties



  • Lead and manage the Business Intelligence & Corporate Analytics team
  • Transform internal corporate data reporting resources and tools, to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies to support organizational decision-making
  • Enhance benchmarking capabilities to provide actionable insights for client service
  • Identify opportunities to serve clients better through enhanced corporate data repositories and reporting
  • Based on data governance and security standards, identify areas where data may be used to benchmark client businesses, foster client growth, and enhance client profitability
  • Transform data insights into a competitive market differentiator for the organization
  • Define internal data requirements and establish data processes to achieve ultimate data objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement data analytics solutions
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in business intelligence and data analytics


Preferred Qualifications



  • 10+ years of experience in professional services, with a preference in accounting, tax, audit, consulting, and insurance, and a strong focus on data analytics and reporting.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and delivering data-driven solutions
  • Industry expertise in accounting (Tax, Audit, and Advisory) is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise information / data repositories (such as Oracle), as well as Microsoft applications and Salesforce. Knowledge of audit and tax platforms that generate large volumes of client data annually is a huge plus.
  • Expertise in data visualization techniques and best practices for presenting complex information
  • Advanced hands-on proficiency in a wide range of data analytics and business intelligence tools, to design solutions and to oversee and mentor technical team members to ensure accuracy

    • Microsoft Power BI: Expert-level experience; for designing and creating interactive dashboards, implementing DAX measures, and developing complex data models
    • SQL: Proficient in writing complex queries, stored procedures, and optimizing database performance
    • Python or R: Experience with data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, ggplot2)
    • ETL Tools: Expertise in data integration and transformation using tools like SSIS, Alteryx, or Talend
    • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud-based analytics services (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery)


  • Strong background in Microsoft Data analytics technologies, including:

    • Azure Data Factory for data integration and workflow orchestration
    • Azure Databricks for big data analytics and machine learning
    • Power Apps and Power Automate for creating custom business applications


  • Proficiency in optimizing Oracle and other database management and analytics tools
  • Knowledge of data integrations and reporting with Salesforce, including Salesforce Analytics (Einstein Analytics) and Salesforce Integration
  • Experience with strategizing and leading data migration efforts
  • Experience directing and driving data governance, data quality management, and data security best practices
  • Extensive experience with Data Lake technologies and architectures, including:

    • Data Lake storage solutions: Azure Data Lake Storage, Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage
    • Data processing frameworks: Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Flink
    • Data cataloging and metadata management tools: Azure Data Catalog, AWS Glue Data Catalog
    • Data governance and security for Data Lakes: data encryption, access control, data lineage tracking
    • Data Lake query engines: Apache Hive, Presto, Apache Drill
    • Data Lake integration with BI tools and data warehouses


  • Implementation of data lake best practices: data zoning (raw, cleaned, curated zones), data partitioning strategies, and optimization techniques
  • Education and Certifications

    • Bachelors degree or higher, with a preference of Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Accounting, or a related field. Masters Degree is a plus.
    • Advanced certifications in data analytics and business intelligence are preferred, such as:

      • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate
      • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate
      • AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty
      • Salesforce Certified Data Architect
      • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
      • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
      • TDWI Certified Business Intelligence Professional


    • Relevant accounting or tax certifications (e.g., CPA, EA) are highly desirable


  • Additional Qualifications

    • Professional level written and verbal communication, and the ability to present to all levels, from staff to C-Suite.
    • Experience with agile methodologies and data-driven project management
    • Experience presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
    • Deep understanding of the professional services industry, including relevant regulations, business processes, and data challenges. Understanding of the Accounting and /or Insurance Brokerage Industries or is highly preferred.
    • Proven ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies for client service improvement
    • Ability to Travel Nationally up to 25% monthly




Minimum Qualifications



  • The successful candidate will be credentialed in applicable areas of expertise (i.e. law, accounting, tax, product/service) with at least ten years of relevant experience in a field or industry.
  • Must have strengths in leadership and management from a strategic perspective
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative with internal groups to reach workable solutions, able to anticipate problems, creatively assess alternatives and manage conflicts
