Safety/Environmental Coordinator Job Description

Function: Safety and Environmental

Position: Hourly

Hourly Wage: $28.74

Summary: The Safety and Environmental Coordinator coordinates the overall environmental management program in the Winchester manufacturing facility. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the computerized environmental database of Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, and supporting files and documents. Responsible for plant waste water sampling program. Prepares and distributes environmental related documents and reporting forms including but not limited to Tier II Form R Reports, Discharge Monitoring Reports, and related reports and documents. Works with regulatory agencies and auditors.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Work with all departments to meet or surpass the plant's safety goals. Safety - must be on a Safety Team either as a co-leader or participant. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Coordinate daily and weekly maintenance work with plant maintenance personnel. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Maintains equipment such as the Bailers and Trash Compactors Maintains and Promotes Employee Food Safety Awareness. Develops and maintains the computerized environmental database and all associated Procedures, Work Instructions, and Forms. Maintains ISO 14001 and functions as the ISO 14001 team leader Maintains and coordinates all existing hard copy files of environmental records. Maintains and updates the plant SPCC (spill plan) and SWP3 Plan (storm water) and provides detailed plant training to plant teams on the required frequency. Performs regular storm water site inspections and sampling with appropriate documentation. Collects data for monthly plant air emissions and provides needed calculations. Facilitates all aspects of the Winchester plant by-product program including serving as the plant liaison with by-product contractors. Leads by-product minimization and control initiatives. Develops and provides all vital environmental reports and forms for outside distribution including, for example, annual Tier II and Form R reports. Monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports, Notice of Regulatory Inspection Reports, and similar documents. Develops and coordinates preventative maintenance and repair of plant environmental related equipment including the wastewater process room, by-product collection system and storage tanks, and hazardous waste storage facilities. Directly handles daily wastewater sampling, including collecting and shipping samples, serving as plant liaison with test labs, and preparation of tracking of all results. Facilitates plant hazardous waste management and hazardous material shipping Acts as the plant solid waste coordinator responsible for supervising all solid wastes generated. Functions as the plant recycling champion, coordinating delivery and installment of Sunoco recycling program equipment. Trains employees on use of new equipment. Provides incremental support to the Winchester Facilities & Production Maintenance/Engineering team, as appropriate. Handles the Safety Inspection Program and completes routine Compliance Inspections. Performs routine activities including pH probe calibration and calculations. Ordering of Safety supplies as needed. Lead Safety Awareness Steering Team meetings Train New Hires on Safety and Environmental Programs Other Safety, Engineering, and/or Environmental duties that may be assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position also has accountability for QRMP standards as outlined in the Winchester Kraft Heinz QRMP accountability document.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Understand and follow company and site policies and procedures on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Hold Tags, HACCP, USDA, Foreign Objects, Safety and Security.
