What you'll do:

  • Maintain a check on material inventories, production progress and other factors affecting schedules and production requirements.
  • Notify Plant Superintendent and management team of events that will affect failure to meet schedules.
  • Plan and schedule workflow for each department in the production operation.
  • Send work orders to production department in conformance with release dates, machine load schedule and material availability.
  • Monitor work order flow to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Issue change orders, cancellations and rush orders as needed from customer service.
  • Advise customer service of ship dates for less than lead time sales orders.
  • Revise schedules when necessary.
  • Close out WO's and review accuracy daily.
  • Communicates with the Plant Superintendent, Shipping/Receiving as well as other Silgan personnel concerning stock availability, shipment dates and deliveries.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor for machine uptime, PM, mold changes, etc.
  • Conduct inventories monthly and yearly with department team.
  • Responsible for process of moving product that needs to go in for final processing.
  • Identifies and participates in continuous improvement activities
  • All other duties as assigned

What you'll need to have:

  • Associate degree preferred
  • 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Must have experience with computers including proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Office files.
  • Very proficient in MRP systems. JD Edwards, Oracle based MRP.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, customer service, materials group, production, sales, and Silgan personnel concerning customer orders, production scheduling, shipments, stock availability and resources.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing capacities in the relation to company products and components in the production control process.
  • Strong organizational skills for effective production scheduling.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with others.
  • Overtime required at times
