Primary Purpose
The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and operations of the enterprise cloud and co-location environments. This includes and not limited to performing R&D of new products and services, pilots, product selection, hands-on implementations, testing cycles, technical documentation, continual tuning, service improvements, and engineering level support. This role is responsible for all facets of cloud engineering and operations including DevOps, automation, auto-scaling as well as incident/change/problem resolution, resource management, capacity planning, and communications.
The Sr. Systems Engineer is a results-oriented technical expert with the ability to work across organizations internally and externally, and with a high degree of client focus. Acts as a hands-on technical leader providing cloud competency within the department. Partners with business clients and IT staff to deliver innovative technical solutions. Continuously innovating the cloud-based capabilities in the organization by leveraging industry wide best practices.
The Sr Systems Engineers has the ability to work effectively in a strong and cohesive team environment by sharing responsibilities and knowledge with others. Responsible for managing projects and their respective deliverables to meet the dynamic business requirements of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical lead in supporting the company's server and cloud infrastructure. Ensure production systems are running optimally. Provide technical support and maintenance of server and cloud infrastructure. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of technical issues as required. Provide technical leadership in the development of system standards and procedures. Ensure client and business objectives are met. Define and setup required monitoring, logging, alerting and audit controls necessary for continuous operations.
- Research and evaluate new technologies, cloud offerings and solutions. Communicate strategy, and influence decisions within all levels of the IT organization and business unit clients. Create/Lead the development of architecture documents, requirements and designs, roadmaps, technology maintenance/upgrade lifecycle, execution plans, monitoring and health checks validations, recovery plan, roll back plans, and Disaster Recovery solutions. pace requirement considerations.
- Plan and coordinate future upgrades and system changes including large cloud migrations. Lead resolution of Level 3 technical issues and escalations as well as coordinate efforts with third party vendors for resolution of support issues. Coordinate with service providers when required to ensure satisfactory issue resolution.
- Maintain backup/recovery environment. Respond quickly to data recovery; verify implementation of the backup solution; develop recovery procedures; support recovery from loss of data caused by user or system error.
- Manage third party vendors/contractors (including SaaS providers) to ensure they deliver the value and services as contracted.
- Drive efficiencies as well as innovative solutions that continuously improve the value and technical capabilities of the team.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years experience working in an enterprise level Microsoft based enterprise cloud/data center environment, supporting public cloud and multiple co-location sites.
- Experience performing daily cloud operations activities. (monitoring, troubleshooting, ticketing, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft/Cloud Identity and Access Management principles and best practices.
- Experience with Microsoft public cloud tools and technologies (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS).
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Experience working with various monitoring tools / platforms.
- Expert understanding of cloud engineering, operations, security tools and technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues involving cloud engineering and operations.
- Strong knowledge of key technologies including O365, Azure, VMWare, Data Center / Cloud Networking, Threat and Vulnerability Management, Microsoft Exchange Online, SPAM Filtering, DNS, Certificate Management, Backup and Disaster Recovery.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Active Directory, Single Sign On and Multifactor Authentication.
- Working knowledge of automation platforms such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, SCCM.
- Working knowledge of scripting and automation languages (PowerShell, Python).
- Working knowledge of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- Professional knowledge of Change/Release Management and its effects on ensuring site reliability.

- Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science or related business/technical discipline
- Microsoft Certifications (Azure Administrator, Architect)
