I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary: |
The Research Program Associate will play a critical role in managing the administrative and operational functions of the GW Competition & Innovation Lab. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including finance, human resources, IT, facilities management, instructional facilities, and student services. The successful candidate will also engage in strategic planning, oversee multidisciplinary departmental activities, and ensure the seamless operation of the Lab in alignment with its strategic goals.
Reporting to the Director of the GW Competition & Innovation Lab within GW Institute of Public Policy, the key responsibilities include:
Operational Management:
- Direct strategic planning activities for the research center
- Establish priorities in coordination with Lab leadership, monitor progress, and analyze outcomes
Fundraising:
- Cultivate, solicit, and engage key external stakeholders to advance the center's strategic priorities
- Identify and involve stakeholders in key task forces
- Develop and execute strong fundraising campaigns, with or without third-party assistance
Internal Activities:
- Revise, update, and implement the center's annual strategic plan
- Provide guidance to the Lab's faculty and leadership
- Create and manage the Lab's newsletter, annual report, and mailing list growth
Communications:
- Foster and enhance relationships with stakeholders to increase awareness of the Lab's vision, mission, goals, and community impact
- Manage social media, website content creation, and overall web management
Event Planning:
- Plan and organize both in-person and online events for the Lab
Grants Application:
- Identify and assist in pursuing federal, state, local, and industry funding opportunities to support the center's mission
The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |
