This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant and is funded through June 30, 2026.

The Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) Program Coordinator at MATC provides overall coordination and project management of UAA activities at MATC. UAA is a collaboration between MATC CNC machine technology educators, specialists in education for those with autism, representatives from state and local social service agencies, and nonprofit and for-profit organizations. This exceptional combination is dedicated to properly train, place in the workforce and provide on-going support for employers and qualified students seeking skill-specific well-paying jobs within the manufacturing industry. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to program marketing and recruitment, application management, coordination of internal services, and assisting with employer relations.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with prospects, students, parents and referral provider agencies. Conduct regular meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Manage communication from participants, service coordinators, family members, and referral agencies.
  • Oversee and coordinate the program application, intake, and orientation process for all participants and ensure appropriate policies and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate soft skills/job readiness skills instruction provided by the MATC CareerHub.
  • Work closely with the UAA instructors, students, and service providers to address issues and coordinate wrap around services as identified by the faculty and case manager.
  • Collaborate with UAA Program Specialist/Case Manager to establish student achievement/development goals and progress.
  • Coordinate with the CareerHub staff to assist and direct students who do not successfully graduate the Uniquely Abled Academy or are not offered positions.
  • Manage funding and program budget.
  • Manage and prepare progress reports including notes from the case manager to document program outcomes including grades, graduation, and employment.
  • Assist in placing graduates in appropriate employment. Coordinate and provide tours for employers on campus, and to our potential employers.
  • Provide employer Uniquely Abled awareness training for potential employers.
  • Establish relationships with agencies and nonprofits that can help in publicizing the program.
  • Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.
  • Coordination of Perkins CNC Grant.

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree.

Required Experience: 2 years of project development/management experience

Preferred Experience: 1 year experience working with an Autism at Work program.

Specialty Skills: Minimum of 1-year experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 15lbs, carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability to pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 45% of time spent sitting, 40 % of time standing, 15% of time walking.

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the CareerHub Department and is available to start as soon as possible.

Hours: Up to 40 hours weekly, in-person, Downton campus. Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.

Salary: Salary is determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity. Salary determination will be only based on years of credited experience that is listed on the job application, please include complete work history. This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant and is funded through June 30, 2026.
