DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In the role of a Dental Assistant within the Department of Corrections, you will collaborate closely with our skilled Dentists to deliver essential dental care to our inmate population, ensuring that services are rendered with both professionalism and empathy. Your responsibilities will include supporting the Dentist during patient examinations and treatments, coordinating appointment schedules, overseeing the daily patient workflow, and maintaining accurate dental records. Additionally, you will provide chairside assistance, ensure the proper functioning of dental office equipment, and carry out various dental laboratory tasks.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306.00 (before taxes). In some cases, the starting salary may be negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in a dental office or clinic; or
- Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
