Fairfax County's Maintenance and Stormwater Management Division is looking to hire an energetic Service Request Inspector with a passion in stormwater and asset management. As a team member in the Stormwater Conveyance Branch, they will respond to citizens for resolution of service requests related to agency maintenance programs and refer complaints to other agencies as appropriate. Evaluates field conditions and completes maintenance work orders in compliance with adopted levels of service. Researches, prepares reports/presentations and correspondence for compliance with permit conditions and the agency's annual reporting and program requirements.

Fairfax County's award-winning Stormwater team works to reduce flood risk and protect local watersheds and the Chesapeake Bay with comprehensive watershed and infrastructure management to protect people, the environment, and property.
This position is responsible for the following:
- Interfaces and represents the county directly with the board of supervisors, civic organizations, residents, and contractors in the investigation of complex complaints and requests for service and assessment of such as walkways, ponds, sewers, and roads.
- Complete complex research from field reconnaissance and available county historical records.
- Generates maintenance work orders to address deficiencies and needed repairs / replacement of the county's infrastructure.
NOTE: The appointee to this position will be required to be available twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week (24/7) to respond to snow, flooding, and other designated emergencies on an as-needed basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus, four years of engineering technical support work.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- A valid driver's license.
- VDOT Work Zone Traffic Control certification.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Established knowledge in reviewing data and identifying, interpreting and appropriately classifying the data.
- Experience operating keyboard driven and computer equipment.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise and well-documented technical reports.
- Ability to apply basic engineering principles to the solution of problems.
- Possess information technology skills including computerized maintenance management systems, GIS and Microsoft Office automation.
- Must be highly motivated and demonstrate thorough knowledge of engineering drawings, computational processes, and spreadsheets/databases through initiative and applying basic engineering principles; possess the skills oriented toward providing outstanding customer service to stakeholders.
- A pipeline assessment and program certification (PACP) and/or manhole assessment and program certification (MACP).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to drive a County pick-up truck. Performs duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Physically and mentally able to use all applicable personal protective equipment in an outdoor environment; including hardhat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, long pants, sleeved shirt, and personal fall arrest harness. With assistance, ability to push, pull, stoop, walk, climb, and bend, lift and carry objects weighing up to 90 lbs. At a sustained rate and for numerous mileage, ability to walk and inspect storm sewer in a variety of climatic and topographic conditions. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
