Job Announcement

Works as part of the space management team. Establishes a blueprint and compiles plans for new projects and oversees project schedules, ensuring high quality, innovative features, and meeting objectives, as well as curating feasibility analysis and design ideas and developing designs that meet the end-user needs, facility utilization, and environmental impact in mind. Use of AutoCAD, SketchUp, RS Means Bluebeam and MS Excel. Responsible for all aspects of design and architecture, including organizing, creating, and project management. Handles built design, extension, modification, repair, and safety features from start to finish. Will oversee contractors and other architect and engineering firms. The goal is to meet the requesting agency's needs while also producing a durable, aesthetically pleasing design.

Works under a senior architect and principal architect.

This position is considered essential personnel, on-call or alternate shifts may be necessary to complete work assignments.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor's degree in the appropriate engineering or architectural field; three years of progressively responsible professional experience in the appropriate engineering or architectural field.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is considered "essential personnel" and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).
  • The appointee to the position will be required to complete the following to the satisfaction of the employer:
    • Criminal Background Investigation
    • Driving Record Check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor's degree in Architecture.
  • Four years of demonstrated history directly responsible and accountable for management and supervision of full performance commercial space planning and minor renovation study, design. and construction projects in occupied commercial buildings greater than 70,000 gross sq ft., per building to include low rise and high rise (5 stories or more) buildings with individual project budgets over $100,000 involving multiple trades.
  • Four or more years' demonstrated history in interpreting and applying building codes and regulations.
  • Proficient in reading building architectural and engineering plans.
  • Four or more years demonstrated history in the full performance responsibility for a portfolio of complex commercial building space planning and minor renovation projects in occupied commercial facilities including but not limited to: development of contracts, authoring scope of work, financial oversight, design development, submittal approval, RFI responses, construction quality, safety performance, oversight of quality metrics and quality performance, firm/contractor selection and oversight, oversight of project documentation, project schedule, and risk mitigation and quality control.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to climb ladders, access tight spaces, crawl, reach, lift 25 lbs, push 25lbs, etc.
  • Access facility equipment and equipment rooms.
  • Communicate with others verbally and in writing
  • Dexterity to use hand tools.
  • Drive a motor vehicle.
  • Physically mobile to access active construction sites. Wear personal safety equipment including safety shoes, ear protection, safety glasses, and hard hats.
  • Vision to see detailed drawings, construction and discern color.
  • All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
