Onsite - Niagara Falls, NY Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and the thirst for human exploration.The Niagara Falls Site supplies rocket engines, propulsion systems, and propellant tanks for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle and strategic defense missions. We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to lead complex and large scope projects such as new production introduction (NPI), internal research and development (IRAD), production with significant non-recurring engineering, and play a key role in establishing and maintaining project engineering processes and functional excellence. This role will report directly to the head Engineering Manager for the Niagara Falls Site / Engines Business Unit (BU) and sit on the engineering leadership team. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance and access to U.S. export-controlled information. To be considered for this position, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • At least 12 years of progressive experience, with 5 years of leading or supporting development projects.
  • Experience interfacing with customers and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach other engineers.
  • Can understand new technical concepts and products. Utilize these skills to understand risks and take appropriate actions.
  • Ability to gather data and use this data to make decisions to improve the business.
  • Strong analytical abilities and be able to prioritize, coordinate and manage complex operational issues and processes
  • Excellent working knowledge of business systems / processes as well as have demonstrated people management skills
  • Ability to influence and persuade in situations where emotions can run high and pressure to perform is great.
  • Be technically strong and familiar with Engineering processes, but must also demonstrate a strong business acumen and expertise in Earned Value Management
As a Staff Project Engineer, you will:
  • Lead a cross-functional and cross-site integrated project teams (IPTs) through complex and large scope development program(s).
  • Deliver on the technical, scope, budget, and schedule commitments for assigned projects. Working with program management, you will be accountable for the management of budget and execution performance of the program or portion of the program(s) you are responsible for and be the primary technical point of contact.
  • Develop new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel.
  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
  • Prepare and often lead successful proposals, cost estimates, and shoulder the responsibility for writing the technical volume.
  • Champion, oversee, and track execution of the design and development process for applicable projects.
  • Establish relationships with customer and Moog networks built on trust and competence. Maintain good emotional intelligence, deliver clear and transparent communication, and actively listen to the "voice of the customer".
  • Support bid and proposal, sales support, expense, and capital projects as needed. Provide estimates to support scope creation.
  • Aid the management team in helping establish and monitor best practices for project engineering.
  • Assist in interviewing, training, and counseling junior engineers.
  • Consult on new product and market development efforts.

Salary Range Transparency:

Niagara Falls, NY $145,000.00-$180,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
