Synthesis Chemical Operator - Newport, DE

Rotating 12-hr shifts

TheSynthesis Operatoris responsible for completing production activities to ensure safe production through the execution of Toyota Production System (TPS) principles, tools, and techniques. TheSynthesis Operatoris responsible for troubleshooting, completing accurate production reporting, and assisting with on-the-job training for new employees in the assigned operating area.

Responsibilities:



  • Support and adhere to the principles of the AmericanChemistry Council's ResponsibleCare by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors. Comply with the requirements of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • Executes the area TPS initiatives daily: Standard work, 5S/Visual Management, Mistake proofing, Autonomous Maintenance, Problem solving.
  • Execution of daily area activities ensuring production deadlines are met in a safe and timely manner using SOPs and shift notes. Responsible for completing and submitting daily shift notes and batch cards while ensuring that all SOPs are followed.
  • Assist in equipment inspections and calibration checks. Identification of equipment malfunctions and communication of issuesto supervision so that maintenance notifications can be entered for repairs.
  • Participate in training of operators. Communicate to supervision when an SOP is inaccurate or unclear. Be available and able tocross train in other areas of the Synthesis operations.


  • Be knowledgeable of and follow all Environmental, HeathandSafety practices including but not limited to: manage waste movements according to satellite and/or 90-day accumulation requirements, inspect aircontaminant sources and institute corrective action for out-of-spec conditions, prevent releases into the sewer, and/or storm water systems by following BMPs (best management practices), activate emergency response procedures in case of spillsor other emergencies.



Education & Experience:



  • HS Diploma / Equivalent
  • 4+ years experience in production operations
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work with analytical and mechanical equipment, including troubleshooting such equipment.
  • Ability to work independently at times using SOPs and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn operating w/DCS and PLC interfaces and Microsoft Office products.
  • Good understanding of 5S, visual management, KPIs, standard work and other TPS tools.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime beyond the normally scheduled work hours.
  • Willingness and ability to participate as a member of the site's emergency response team.



Preferred:



  • Six Sigma / Lean Training certification
  • Experience in Batch Chemical Operations
  • Experience working in a PSM regulated environment
  • Experience using TPS tools in a manufacturing environment
