Job Description

Develop and produce steel designs and contract documents for new and retrofit building/structural projects including, but not limited to, schools, offices, sporting facilities, hospitals and medical office buildings under supervision of a Project Manager.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements


  • Create computer models using preliminary drawings and/or design criteria.

  • Develop and draw project design details for construction.

  • Develop gravity and lateral frame solutions.

  • Participate in field visits to observe SidePlate connection fabrication and erection.

  • Prepare structural calculations and drawings for submission to Engineers of Record and Authorities having Jurisdiction.

  • Review, evaluate and correct structural computer models provided to SidePlate by Engineer of Record, as required.

  • Understand project schedules and deliver contract documents on time.

  • Review shop drawings and requests for information (RFI's).

  • Participate in Fabricator Kickoff Meetings.


Qualifications


  • Bachelors Degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering Required

  • Masters Degree in Engineering preferred

  • 0-2 Years Experience in structural engineering required

  • EIT Preferred or ability to obtain with in 12 months of hire. preferred

  • Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis

  • Excellent understanding of statics, dynamics and structural load path. required

  • Able to perform mathematical skills such as calculating proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and able to apply concepts of basic geometry

  • Ability to read and understand prints and schematics

  • Able to use Microsoft Office Applications

In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the pay range for this position is estimated at $80,000 -$104,000/year. Base pay offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Please visit www.mii.com/about/careers/ to learn more about MiTek's benefit opportunities.

Physical Demands

  • This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. This role may need to access areas within the building that are undergoing renovations which may contain jobsite hazards. Occasionally this role will required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
