As a Construction and Engineering Project Coordinator, you will manage a variety of projects to improve or construct structures and infrastructure systems or repair or rehabilitate equipment at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Construction and Engineering Project Coordinator

Serves in the Airport Engineering Division of the Maintenance and Engineering Department at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Manages or acts as liaison for selected engineering and building projects related to facilities improvement activities for IAD's airlines and other tenants, the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) program, the Capital Operating and Maintenance Improvement Program (COMIP), as well as assigned projects under the Capital Construction Program (CCP). Performs related functions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates all aspects of the planning and design phases of assigned O&M, COMIP, and CCP projects at IAD.

Generates, reviews, and manages submissions for annual Capital and Non-Capital Facility projects and the COMIP and O&M budgets.

Reviews the engineering proposal and construction documents of assigned projects for compliance with the IAD Master Plan, Airports Authority design guidelines, and other requirements.

Serves as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) on assigned projects.

Coordinates work on projects with all stakeholders, ensures that they are apprised of work schedules that affect operations or facilities, and plans and schedules work to minimize inconvenience to affected parties.

Works with architects, engineers, engineering technicians, and construction inspectors regarding customers' operational objectives and needs, the design development and intent, and the construction and activation phases of the project.

Monitors work on site and the quality control work of others.

May serve on committees to establish building policies and other technical standards for the Airports Authority.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Five years of progressively responsible experience in commercial-industrial construction and design project management.

Knowledge of and ability to apply civil, structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering and construction methods, techniques, and practices.

Knowledge of and ability to monitor construction and environmental issues (e.g., storm water management and asbestos abatement).

Skill in preparing office schematics and engineering drawings of moderate complexity.

Ability to make detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations.

Ability to speak and write effectively, with emphasis on communicating technical issues to nontechnical audiences.

Skill in using a computer and office suite software, with emphasis on database and spreadsheet software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; Construction Management; or related field.

Aviation design and/or construction experience.

Knowledge of and experience with airfield PCI and GIS software.

Experience with Bluebeam Revu.

Skill in using a CAD software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.

EDUCATION

A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED

A state driver's license in good standing.

NECESSARY SPECIAL FACTORS

Work is typically reviewed in progress and upon completion for quantity, quality, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors.

May be subject to night/weekend work.

Is subject to hold-over and recall on a 24-hour basis for essential services and emergencies such as snow removal.

May be subject to potential hazards common to the airport environment and construction industry.

May be subject to adverse weather conditions and dust/grease/dirt.

Wears personal protective gear, as necessary.

A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
