Position Summary

The Emergency Medicine Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Technical Specialist to support the use and administration of QPathE software across various departments. This position will primarily involve overseeing the user management system, assisting with creating departmental worksheets, tracking scholarly activity, and providing IT support for staff and faculty. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, an interest in technology, a willingness to work in a collaborative research environment and is available 10 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities:
User Management:
Add new users to the QPathE system and configure appropriate user permissions based on department and role requirements.
Update and maintain the user directory to ensure accurate records of all active users.
Troubleshoot and resolve user access issues, collaborating with IT support as needed.
Worksheet Creation and Support:
Assist various departments in creating and updating custom worksheets on QPathE, ensuring they meet specific research and clinical needs.
Provide support for the customization of data entry fields and other software features to optimize workflow.
Scholarly Activity Tracking:
Track and document Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) scholarly activity from various departments, including IRB submissions, research papers, presentations, and other contributions.
Maintain records of publications and academic achievements related to POCUS for reporting and analysis.
IT Support and Troubleshooting:
Serve as a point of contact for IT-related issues across departments using QPathE, providing initial troubleshooting assistance and escalating more complex issues to the appropriate IT staff.
General Administrative Support:
Provide general administrative assistance to the research team and other departments using QPathE. This may include assistance with data collection for various research projects.
Organize and maintain records, documentation, and correspondence related to the use of QPathE software.
Assist in coordinating training sessions or tutorials for new users.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with software systems or user administration tools (experience with QPathE or similar platforms is a plus but not required).
  • Basic troubleshooting and IT support skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff and learners.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for accuracy, especially in data entry and record-keeping.
    Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and find solutions in a timely manner.
